In our article, you’ll find your travel options, our suggestions about getting the whole island experience, and much more. So have your to-do list ready, and let’s dive in!
5 Things To Keep in Mind Before You Travel to Paros
Traveling to new places can be overwhelming, and that’s why we’re here to help! Check out our tips for your vacation in Greek islands of Paros below.
1. Boat or Plane: Choose your Travel Means
Depending on a lot of things like weather or prices, you can go to Paros island Greece either by ferry or airplane.
If you decide to have the full-on Aegean sea experience, then traveling by boat is for you! It’s very easy to buy tickets, and we absolutely recommend you do this as early as possible. This is because our stunning island is particularly popular during the summer months and tickets can become as rare as rain in the Greek summer. There are three ports you can depart from - Lavrio, Rafina, or Piraeus - so make sure you choose depending on your preferences and travel schedule!
Now, there’s also the option to travel by plane through a connecting flight to Athens International Airport. Just as with traveling by boat, we highly recommend you get your tickets for a flight to Paros island at your earliest convenience, so you don’t end up paying an arm and a leg!
The great thing is that you have options, and whichever one you choose will take you to the same idyllic destination!
2. Check the Weather Forecast and Don’t Forget Your Sunscreen
After you get your tickets all sorted out, our tip is to check the weather forecast for Paros and Athens a few days before you leave.
Don’t get us wrong; the chances that it rains during June, July, or August are very slim. However, it might get windy on occasion, and boat rides tend to stop running if it gets too much. Keep in mind that you will receive a notification in case that happens, so you can book another ferry.
Also, if you are looking to travel in May or during early fall, then there might be the rare rainfall. In any case, checking the weather conditions is very useful!
Before we forget, we have to let you know to not forget your sunscreen! The UV range reaches its heights even during the early days of fall in Paros, and we want to help you avoid getting long-lasting sunburn. If you can, we also do recommend checking the UV range before you travel as well, so you know the type of sunscreen to pack with you.
3. Rent a Car in Advance to Experience the Island
There are plenty of ways to get around on the island, including public buses that charge 1.80 EU per ride. However, if you want a more independent way to see every azure corner of the island, then we do recommend that you rent a car.
You can get a rental from the Athens International Airport or on the island itself - we do recommend the latter, however, as you won’t have to pay an extra ticket for the car on your way over.
So, when you book your stay with us, let us know if you would like us to recommend a place for a car rental and we’ll help you out! And if you’re worried about a parking spot at the Aegean Seashell Villa, we’ve got you covered too!
4. Make Sure You Have a Map of Paros on Hand
Even if you aren’t the type to want to discover the whole of Paros island in Greece, you must get yourself a map of it! This is especially the case if the car that you rent doesn’t include a GPS system on it - it will really save you so much time and effort driving or walking around!
Of course, Google maps can solve the issue of not having a Paros island map, but there’s also this downloadable and printable version in case you want to save your data roaming.
5. Let Us Know When You’ll Be Arriving
When you book your stay with us at the Aegean Seashell Villa, make sure to let us know the time you’ll be arriving on the island. This is quite important if you arrive before the earliest check-in time (3:00 p.m.) and are wondering what you can do in the meantime.
